Bridger
Program Admissions
Application for Admission
Admission to the Bridger Program is by application
only.
Any student who wishes to enroll in the Bridger
Alternative Program must apply. Priority will be
given to those students who most recently attended
Bozeman High School. Ninth grade students must have
completed at least one semester of high school
before they will be considered for admission unless
they have been referred in writing by their middle
school principals. Students who have been expelled
due to illegal behaviors will not be considered for
the Bridger program until reinstated by the Board
of Trustees.
There will be an admissions review committee
consisting of the Alternative School Coordinator, a
counselor and a teacher.
All applications are reviewed by the Admissions
Review Committee and the applicants are then
interviewed. Students accepted are prioritized on a
waiting list for entrance into the program at the
start of the next quarter/semester.
Senior Admissions
Seniors graduating from the Bridger Alternative
Program must be in attendance on site for the last
semester in which they intend to graduate.
Application Selection Process for Bridger
Program
The mission statement for the Bridger Program
states that the "Bridger High School Campus Program
creates educational alternatives for youth at
risk." Since nearly all applicants have risk
factors, it may be necessary to objectively weigh
those factors when selecting applicants into the
program.
Through the application selection process, each
application will be reviewed and weighted according
to the following criteria for the purpose of
prioritizing and accepting students into the
Bridger Program.
The Admissions Review Committee will review
applications, interview students, contact referrals
and make recommendations for students to be
accepted into the Bridger Program for the next
enrollment period. Preference will be given to
applicants whose application is completed and filed
one quarter prior to possible entrance.
The following factors will be considered when
applications are reviewed:
1. Students who are most nearly meeting graduation
requirements.
2. Students whose credit status is most near that
of their age and grade level of peers.
3. Students who are pregnant or parenting.
4. Students who have most recently been in
attendance at Bozeman High School.
5. Students who have a history of non-violent,
respectful behavior.
6. Students who are assigned by the court to a
group home or shelter care.
7. Students who have a written referral from school
personnel or other professional person (i.e.,
counselor, principal, vice-principal,
psychologist).
8. Students who are new to Bozeman who have been
successful in another alternative school.
Note: While the staff will consider all of
these criteria in the admission process, the order
listed indicates the importance the staff places on
each factor.
