Greater Gallatin United Way celebrates a hopeful future

Mr. Bauer recently receives the Gold Star Award

Mr. Bauer recently received the Gold Star Award in Recognition of Excellence in Education. The Gold Star Award has traditionally been reserved for teachers. Mr. Bauer is the first principal in Montana to receive the award. In their nomination of Mr. Bauer, the Whittier staff stated, "Mr. Bauer has brought an enthusiastic style of leadership to Whittier, which is very much appreciated. He is truly a colleague. Mr. Bauer approaches every situation from a team perspective. He makes us believe, that together, with each of us doing our part on the team, we can save lives and make the future bright for children, families, and our community. Mr. Bauer keeps the entire school community's best interests at heart at all times. He has our trust, our friendship, and, most importantly, our respect. Mr. bauer embodies the vision for a school that is truly A Wonderful Place to Grow".

Miss Montana Brittany Wiser

Miss Montana, Brittany Wiser, a Bozeman native, has "adopted" Whittier School

She hopes to help children know that each of them are beautiful in their own way and have special talents. She wants students to know what is important in life is helping others. She also wants children to recognize the importance of setting goals, avoiding negative and dangerous peer pressure, and persevering and being persistent in doing what is "right". She hopes students will see "beyond" her title and see her for what she really "stands for".

Super Savings Mini Bank

Whittier has partnered with First Interstate Bank to offer students in grades 3, 4, & 5 an opportunity to start a savings account. Any student in these grades is eligible to open an account. Whittier has their own Board of Directors that received training this fall. Applications to open an account can be picked up in the lobby of Whittier School.

Pint Sized Play

Pint Sized Play is a program for Whittier families of children birth to age three. Three 4 week sessions are offered throughout the school year for families to come to Whittier School and become acquainted with the school staff and become familiar with resources available to them in the Bozeman Community. The meetings are an hour long, 10:00 - 11:00 am. and meet in the Whittier Library on Fridays. The remaining dates are: 2/5, 2/12, 2/19, 2/26. Sessions will also be held in April on 4/9, 4/16, and 4/23. Please call Kathy Rich at 922-4240 for more information or to register. Walk-ins are also welcomed.
